Lester L. Levin's Obituary
Lester “Les” Levin, sometimes known as “Doc,” died on May 5th in Lewes of complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Baltimore to Herman and Jean Levin on June 11, 1935.
He graduated as senior class president from his beloved Forest Park High School in Baltimore. He attended the University of Maryland and graduated from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1959. Les spent four years as an Air Force dentist before establishing a family practice in Aston, Pennsylvania, where he practiced for 42 years.
He served twice as president of the Chester and Delaware County Dental Society. He was also president of the Second District Dental Society and the Pennsylvania Dental Association. He served on the ADA Dental Care Council in Chicago for many years. After retiring, he joined the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as an adjunct faculty member in radiology.
In 2009, Les and Linda left their home of 38 years in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. They sold their cottage in Rehoboth Beach and settled in Lewes. Les volunteered at the old Lewes Library and was treasurer of the auxiliary at Beebe, where he volunteered in the ER three days a week. When he was not volunteering, he could often be found at his favorite spot on Lewes Beach, reading a book.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters Julie Levin Alexander (Bill Oldsey) of State College, Pennsylvania, and Lonna Levin of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania; and son Adam Levin (Rianda Levin) of San Francisco, California; as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His warm smile and kind words will be remembered and missed by all who knew him and met him throughout his life.
