Laverne Hostetter's Obituary
Laverne E. Hostetter, age 80, of Lewes, DE passed away on December 26, 2013, in Lewes, DE. Mr. Hostetter was born in Hanover, PA on May 17, 1933, son of the late Wharton and Gertrude (Kuhn) Hostetter.
Mr. Hostetter, known by his friends as Pap or Hoss, was a native of York, PA and a graduate of York Catholic High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. Mr. Hostetter worked as a mechanic repairing and maintaining heavy equipment and trucks for several companies during his career. He retired in 2007 from the House of Windsor at the age of 74 when he and his wife moved to the Lewes area full time.
Mr. Hostetter enjoyed fishing, tinkering around his home and being the “jack of all trades”. He enjoyed camping with his wife for many years, visiting family and friends at the Homestead Campground in Georgetown, and eating breakfast with the Morning Glories at Friendly’s. But above all, he cherished his time spent with his family.
Mr. Hostetter is survived by his loving wife, Eliza (Sevigny) Hostetter; two daughters: Donna Marie Biser and husband Ronald of York, PA and Debra Ann Mathias of Red Lion, PA; a son, Laverne E. Hostetter, Jr. and wife Daveen of Red Lion, PA; one sister, Joann Meyers of York, PA; nine grandchildren: Michael Dietz, Jason Biser, Aaron Biser, Shannon Biser, Sarah Mathias, Brandy Hostetter, Jewel Mathias, Ariel Martinez and Eric Martinez; six great-grandchildren; Monica Dietz, Kaylin Blocher, Adalyn Biser, Paxton Wolf, Josh Kochitis, and Alex Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation,1317 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
