Laurence M. Taylor's Obituary
Laurence M. Taylor, age 84, of Harbeson, DE passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Delaware Hospice of Milford, DE. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 13, 1930, son of the late Jacob and Jessie Taylor.
Mr. Taylor proudly served nearly five years in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952, including service in the Korean War Conflict. After his honorable discharge as Staff Sargent, Mr. Taylor made a career in mechanical and quality assurance engineering with the U.S. Navy, NASA/Grumman Aerospace, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). After his initial retirement, he served in private industry as a consultant specific to mechanical-electrical systems for military and commercial aircraft.
As a resident of Delaware for over 20 years, Mr. Taylor enjoyed life as husband, father and grandfather; and with many different and diverse interests, pastimes and hobbies. He was a member of the American Legion (Post 28) in Millsboro.
Mr. Taylor was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his two brothers Edward and identical twin Donald, his two sisters Lilian and Jeanette, and grandson Kevin Taylor.
He is survived by his wife Jane of 62 years; his daughter Susanne (Kirby); his son Michael and his wife Ellen Duffy-Taylor; and three grandsons: Connor and Ryan Kirby and Matthew Taylor.
A Celebration of Mr. Taylor's Life with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may visit beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Taylor's memory to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803 (Memorial and Honor Giving).
