Lauren D. Longacre's Obituary
Lauren Diane Longacre, age 70 of Dagsboro, DE and formerly of Phoenixville, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 16th, 2022. She was born on March 27th, 1952, in Quakertown, PA, daughter of the late George A . and Rachel L. Adamczyk.
Lauren, the third of five Adamczyk children, was raised in Richlandtown, PA and was a 1970 graduate of Quakertown High School. Only a few years after graduating, Lauren would meet her eventual love and husband of 49 years, Steve.
Lauren had a great sense of humor, she loved to laugh, she always had great advice and words of wisdom to share, especially with her beloved son Jamie, and she loved living her life the way she wished, electing to retire close to the coast, outside of the Bethany Beach, DE area. Lauren also loved good music and dancing. She and Steve could always be found on the dance floor, whether at a wedding reception, or just enjoying a night on the town. The family, dog included, loved taking walks together through the neighborhood, and quite often, to Friendship Field. When relaxing, Lauren enjoyed watching one of her all-time favorite movies, Dirty Dancing (she admittedly had a crush on the movie’s star: Patrick Swayze). During the Fall, Lauren enjoyed NFL football, always interested in each Sunday’s best matchups and enjoyed discussing them, in addition to her winning pick predictions, with her son Jamie. She affectionately nicknamed Jamie “Bo” at a very young age, as a result of his admiration of a prominent Star Wars character (Boba Fett). Lauren loved watching Jamie play many sports during his youth and formative years, baseball being her favorite. Lauren was without a doubt, one of Jamie’s most loyal supporters, and loudest fans (especially after one of Jamie’s many home runs). It was a proud family tradition after games, to sit at the picnic table in the rear yard of their home, in Phoenixville, where they would laugh, talk about the game or just chat about life in general. Lauren often reminded Jamie he was “her heart”.
Lauren also did a tremendous amount of traveling with Steve and Jamie. The family took annual camping trips to states such as Virginia, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. They went skiing locally at Spring and Doe Mountains, as well as the Poconos. Lauren and Steve enjoyed additional skiing trips to Killington, VT as well as an amazing trip overseas to Austria. Summers were often spent more locally in Cape May, NJ, and the family would later spend many seasons at campgrounds outside of both Wildwood, NJ and Bethany Beach, DE. Lauren and Steve took many memorable, exotic vacations to popular destinations in Mexico (Cancun, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta), Belize in Central America, Rio de Janeiro in South America, as well as the Caribbean, with Aruba and St. Martin being two of Lauren’s favorites.
Lauren loved dogs (she was a master at spoiling them) and was a proud dog Mama to the family’s Siberian Husky Tasha. She was also a proud Grandma to late English Bulldog Chloe, whom she affectionately nicknamed “Peanuthead” and most recently, proud Grandma to English Bulldog Rolo, whom she lovingly referred to as “Big Pig”.
Lauren is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Steve Longacre of Dagsboro, DE; and her cherished son, Robert J. “Jamie” Longacre of Charlotte, NC.
