Laura "Fady" Winslow's Obituary
Laura "Fady" Winslow, age 85, passed away November 7, 2013. She was born in Washington, DC, daughter of Laura Bryn Winslow and Francis Winslow, granddaughter of Helmer Bryn, Minister (now called Ambassador) from Norway to the U.S. in the early 1900's. She spent most of her life in Washington, DC with summers in Rehoboth Beach, DE. She remained single, companioning her mother and traveling to develop her photography talents. Although her expertise revealed the beauty and drama in all of nature, she especially enjoyed photographing wild animals. She travelled extensively to Africa, Alaska, Canada, Norway and South America to capture them on camera in their incredible habitats.
She was a member of the North Bethesda Camera Club, the Rehoboth Art League, Sidwell Friends School, the Bryn Mawr Club, Audubon Club, National Geographic Society, Kennedy Center, Chevy Chase Club and Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
She won prizes in local photographic shows but remained semi-professional. She leaves her loving sister, Catherine Winslow Priest, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Mallory and Capt. (ret.) Thomas Sisson and many nieces, nephews, their children and two great nieces. She lost a long battle with blood cancer and after a stroke, she spent the last year at the capable, kind, innovative hands of Harbor Healthcare of Lewes, DE, for which the family is very grateful.
Funeral services will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM, where friends may begin visiting one hour prior. Interment will follow services at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodd's Lane, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
