Laura Gayle Slavin's Obituary
Laura Gayle Slavin, adored wife of Ira David Slavin for only 46 years, returned to God on Saturday, January 3, from liver cancer. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Kathryn Simon; sister of Charles and Marvin.
Laura earned her Bachelor's and two Master's degrees from the University of Maryland. Before she retired two years ago, and after thirty years of work for the University, she was Secretary to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies. She was especially respected by many deans, professors and staff for her truthfulness and trustworthiness. She enjoyed giving course guidance for students to succeed. She loved to cook, paint, read and write poetry with unique insight. Many close relatives and dear friends will always remember her.
