Larry Wayne Rivers' Obituary
Larry Wayne Rivers, age 77 of Bridgeville, DE, and formerly of Manlius, NY and Odessa, MO, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his home. He was born on April 7, 1945, in Lexington, MO, son of the late Ernest and Marie Rivers.
Mr. Rivers built a career in Independence, Missouri as a tool setter for Lake City Army Ammunition, from which he retired in 1998 after many dedicated years. He had a passion for fitness, for which running was an outlet, as well as TaeKwanDo, which he studied for many years, culminating in his earning of a 1st degree black belt. An animal lover, Mr. Rivers had a particular affection for dogs, and he donated regularly and generously to Wayside Waifs, in Grandview, MO. What he treasured most, however, was time spent with those he held most dear. Mr. Rivers was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rivers was preceded in death by his daughter, Chrystal Rivers; and his sister, Sharon Geary. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Margaret MacDougall-Rivers of Bridgeville, DE; his son, Michael Wayne Rivers (Yuki) of Lynnwood, WA; his grandchildren: Joshua and Claire Rivers, both of Lynnwood, WA; his siblings: Judith Barker (Aubrey) of Higginsville, MO and Ernest Rivers (Christine) of Bossier City, LA; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Highway, Kansas City, MO 64137.
