Kristin J. Van Ness' Obituary
On June 6, 2024, the world lost a beautiful dancing star. Kristin Jeanne Van Ness, beloved wife of John Robert King, and devoted mother to Nicole Lynne Reynolds and Colin Alexandre Reynolds, left this world. She is also survived by her sister, Melissa Lynne Van Ness, her niece Kirsten Jeanne Weisner, her nephew Daniel Boyd Weisner, and her stepmother Susan Van Ness. Kristin is pre-deceased by her mother Sandra Jeanne Vachon (09/02), and her father Boyd Van Ness (12/24).
Kris and her husband embarked on a new adventure with their move to DE. With a beautiful new home and a boat floating by waiting to create memories, they had planned for a long and wonderful future. Kristin will always be remembered for her love of butterflies, the beach and all creatures (except spiders!). She had a passion for all genres of music, especially live events. Her children recall how she was always so “hip and down with it.” She loved sports, and liked to tell her kids that she was the OG of California skate culture. A favorite memory of Kris’ was playing rugby in the rain on the National Mall, coming home covered in mud and gleeful.
Kris could always be counted on to help a friend in need. With her children, she never missed a single game, recital, or event. She was a gracious entertainer, and so much fun! She was a traveler who saw as much of the world as she could. She loved playing every kind of game, especially cards, and was a social butterfly; she always made friends easily. Kris always knew that the best memories come from the smallest moments. She will be so deeply missed. Until we see you again, Kris, half a heart away.
A celebration of Kris’ life will take place at 2401 Tricia Ct., Vienna, VA on 8/10/24 from 4:00 PM o 8:00 PM.
Due to Kris’ love of butterflies, please send donations to the Xerces Society (xerces.org/donate). Please include “in memory of” and include [email protected] to alert her family of your donation.
