We've known Ken for over thirty years and shared many laughs. We were shocked to hear of his passing and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
A sympathy card has been sent to the family of Kenneth Carey Diffenderfer.
I met Ken in 1982 when he became one of my house-mates in Alexandria for several years. Soon he joined our weekly gaming group, which continued till 2005. Starting out with board games, we evolved into full-time poker (just chips, no money).
But the games were actually an excuse for a weekly bull session covering sports and current affairs. A table-full of guys with strong opinions made for many a lively debate, and there was never a mystery where Ken stood on any issue!
He was a great guy, and I will miss him. May he rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to his daughter and the rest of his family.
Super Bowl parties (and many other things) will not be the same without Ken. He was one of a kind. And he was a kind and caring person, although he tried to hide it behind a bunch of bluster. He was a good man and a good friend. He is missed. AMF
I've known Ken for over 25 years and will fondly remember the many good times we had playing softball on the Mall, partying at the Warehouse, canoeing, sailing, and fishing. Ken was a good friend and, even though I'm a New Yorker and Yankee fan, he would always be there if I needed him. I will miss him.
Kenny was my friend for over 37 years. We met at the Check Claims Division, Office of the Treasurer and both retired from ATF. We had sooooo many adventures together, shared good times and bad, played ball, watched ball games and liked to yell at each other (who did not yell at Kenny). I know he had contacted a problem causing ailment years ago (the same kind that killed my brother in 2004) but thought it was under control. I had not spoken to him or corresponded with him for a few months so learning of his sudden demise is shocking. He was my friend and I know I could count on him for anything if the need arose. I would appreciate any information about his passing because his friends in the DC area are all taken aback by this. Although I had never met any of his family members please know that he cared for you. He loved his daughter very much. I can be reached on 717 757-3743 or emailed at [email protected] if anyone would share information. This is very sad and he deserved better.
Thinking of you and your family in this difficult time. We wish we could be there, Kate. Lots of love, and may he rest in peace. Love, Kara and Tim Bearpark
A neighborhood fixture, rescuer of animals, curmudgeon, and sweet friend, kenny will be missed.
I worked with Ken at ATF and it was a joy working with him. He had a great sense of humor. My prayers go out to your family. God bless!
I worked with Ken both at the Department of Education and Department of the Treasury. Our large group of coworkers enjoyed many good times with Ken inside and outside work. He will be greatly missed. My sincere sympathy and prayers to his family. Dale Morgan
