Kathryn "Kitty" E. Meredith's Obituary
Kathryn "Kitty" Evelyn (Hitchens) Meredith, age 75, of Ellendale, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Bayhealth Center. Milford, DE. She was born April 2, 1932 in Redden, DE, daughter of the late John Morris and Margaret Evelyn (West) Hitchens.
Kathryn was a homemaker who worked at the Ellendale Market as a clerk. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her entire life revolved around her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Harold J. Williams and her second husband Louis N. Meredith; two brothers, Harvey and Hoyt Hitchens; and two sisters, Mildred Hudson and Ruth Littleton. She is survived by three daughters, Diane Short and husband Donald of Ellendale, Cathy Williams and David Cannon of Lewes, DE, Sheila Zook and husband Wayne of Greenwood; one son, Steve N. Meredith of Ellendale; three grandchildren, Donnie Short, Jr. and wife Joy, Krystal Zook and Brandon Zook; two great-grandchildren, Ty Short and Brice Short; two brothers, John Hitchens and wife Bernice and Donald Hitchens and wife Sydney; a sister, Marie Ellingsworth; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, 2008, 2 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Phyllis Walton will be officiating. Interment will be in Bridgeville Cemetery, Bridgeville, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ellendale United Methodist Church, 601 Main Street, Ellendale, DE 19941.
