Kathleen E. Wyatt's Obituary
Kathleen (Kathy) E. (Zelazny) Wyatt, 69, of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on January 24, 2026. Kathy was born on October 24, 1956, in Wilmington, Delaware. She grew up with a vibrant spirit and went on to graduate from Delcastle High School, where she met the love of her life and studied cosmetology—a fitting beginning for someone who brought beauty, style, and care into everything she did.
Throughout her life, Kathy worked many jobs and wore many hats, always with dedication and heart. Her career included positions at Metropolitan Insurance, as a hairstylist, in retail at AC Moore and Marshall’s, and as a florist. One of her proudest accomplishments was owning and operating her own flower shop in Lewes, Delaware, called Murrows Flowers.
In 2005, Kathy moved to Lewes, embracing life at the beaches she loved so much. She found joy in simple routines that brought her peace and happiness—grabbing her beloved McDonald’s sausage and egg McMuffin and getting to the beach before 8 a.m. to beat the crowd. Shopping was another favorite pastime, especially from QVC, where daily packages became part of her routine and a source of excitement.
Kathy loved music, dancing, and being surrounded by people. She spent many memorable nights dancing and singing karaoke at Images Nightclub in Newark, Delaware, and later at the Moose Club in Lewes. On a good night, you could find her singing Patsy Cline, microphone in hand, enjoying a White Russian, and living fully in the moment.
Kathy also had a deep love for animals. Over the years, she lovingly cared for numerous parrots, cats, and dogs, each one holding a special place in her heart. Most especially, her beloved dog, Chloe, who was faithfully by her side for the past 13 years, bringing her comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved son-in-law, Matt Rydlewski, her brother-in-law, Martin Basara, as well as her parents, Edward and Helen Zelazny.
She is survived by her devoted and caring husband of 50 years, Rickey Wyatt; her daughter, Jennifer Delaney (Kenneth); her cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua (Sophie), and Isabella; and her great-grandchild, Hennessy. She is also survived by her sister, Lynn Hormanski (John); her aunts and uncle, Elizabeth Lenkiewicz, Eugene Chudzik, and Dolores Davis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws who loved her dearly.
Kathy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Beebe Hospital and VITAS Healthcare for their exceptional care and kindness during her final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass.
