Kathleen Theresa Myles' Obituary
Kathleen “Kathy” Theresa Myles, 65, of Milton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus, in Milford, Delaware, after a courageous battle with cancer and pneumonia.
Born December 23, 1959, in Neptune, New Jersey, Kathy embodied the spirit of a true Jersey girl—resilient, comical, and always up for an adventure. She was the daughter of the late Eugene Thomas Myles, former Chief of Police in Bradley Beach, NJ.
Kathy began her career in IT and project management at Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ, where she started as an executive assistant and office manager before expanding into web development, office automation, and research.
Her career flourished at AT&T, where she played a pivotal role in PMOSS (Performance Management Operations Systems & Support), a system that monitored and ensured the quality of Voice Over IP (VOIP) communications. Kathy’s leadership and organizational skills were instrumental in managing resources and overseeing complex projects that advanced telecommunications technology. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kathy was a natural-born leader with an entrepreneurial spirit. She founded several successful small businesses.
Kathy was a multi-talented individual whose athletic and creative pursuits were as impressive as her professional achievements. She enjoyed a variety of activities, including sailing, surfing, horseback riding, golfing, cycling, and dancing. A gifted artist, Kathy’s talents in painting and drawing reflected her vibrant, creative spirit.
Kathy will be remembered for her tenacity for life, positivity, generosity, and sharp wit that kept everyone on their toes. Wherever she went, you knew you'd have the best time and leave with unforgettable stories to laugh about for decades. Even during her health battles, she remained fiercely positive, compassionate, and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Kathy lived her life by a core belief: that God placed people on earth to help others. This principle guided her every action, and she embodied it fully, touching the lives of countless people through her kindness, selflessness, advice and unwavering support.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Thomas Myles and Eleanor Patricia Myles (Carr), and sister, Patricia “Patty” Myles.
Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Lawrence "Larry" Wigbels; her children Haley Myles, Heather Holmes, Guy Wigbels, Sarah Martin and six grandchildren; her brothers John “Kevin” Myles and Richard Myles.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in remembrance of Kathy’s life and love.
