Kathleen Teresita Kelly's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Teresita "Terri" Kelly (née Ressegue), age 78, on March 30, 2025, in Lewes, Delaware. She peacefully passed surrounded by her family.
Born on January 17, 1947, in Manhattan, New York, Terri was the beloved daughter of Kathleen “Katie; Kate” and William “Bill” Ressegue. She was the sister to William “Billy” Ressegue, Maureen Rogers, Regina Ressegue, Eileen Ressegue, and Donald Ressegue.
Terri’s life was deeply rooted in family. She shared a devoted marriage with her husband Robert “Bob” Kelly of 57 years and took immense pride in their three children: Robert “Bobby” Kelly, Tara Kelly, and Kristen Kelly Sullivan. Her family grew to include daughter-in-law Kelly Michael, son-in-law Jeffrey Sullivan and three cherished grandchildren—Mason, Regan, and Avery Sullivan—who brought her great joy.
Throughout her life, Terri embraced many roles: while she was a friend to everyone she was a sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, godmother and nurse, she loved people. Each role reflected her enduring commitment to care, connection, and conversation. Her greatest pride came from watching her children grow into adulthood and seeing her grandchildren thrive. Hosting family and friends was a huge part of lifestyle making Bob and Terri’s home the goto place for family gatherings, graduations, holidays and any excuse for a good party.
She pursued a life of service and compassion, earning her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. Her career began in obstetrics, where she supported countless families through some of their most meaningful moments. Later in life, she transitioned to teaching new nurses about geriatrics, sharing her wisdom and experience with the next generation of caregivers.
A celebration of life will be held later in May to honor Terri’s life and legacy in Maryland. Details to follow.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
