Karl R. Taylor's Obituary

Karl R. Taylor, age 82, of Dagsboro, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. He was born in Washington, DC, on April 10, 1937, son of the late George and Marie Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was raised in Silesia, Maryland. He began his career as an independent owner and operator of his own trucking company. He later went on to serve as a truck driver for 18 years with Giant Food based out of Landover, Maryland before retiring in December 1, 1998. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed gardening, cutting grass and working on anything with an engine. He gained most pleasure when he spent time with his family and rescue pets.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his brother, George C. Taylor, Jr.; three sisters, Celeste Schmidtt ,Audrey MacIntyre, Elizabeth Dennison and son in law, Michael Carroll, He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Mae Taylor of Dagsboro, DE; son, Robert K. Taylor of Selbyville, DE; daughter, Karen A. Carroll of Dagsboro, DE; two grandchildren: Kevin and Krista Carroll; longtime family friend, Eric Fatzinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Beacon Baptist Church, 32262 Beacon Baptist Road, Millville, DE 19967. A viewing will be held on Monday October 7, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, 34874 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View, DE 19970. Burial will follow the services at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Dagsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Taylor's name to the American Cancer Society, 1315 Mt. Hermon Road, Suite D, Salisbury, MD 21804 or to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101Newark, DE 19713, or to the SPCA, 22918 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
