Karin Lynn Long's Obituary
Karin Long, born December 24, 1956, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at her home in Long Neck, Delaware.
Karin grew up in the Bronx, where she developed a very independent streak. After achieving her GED, she went on to study accounting at a local community college, which led her to open her own successful tax preparation business. Throughout her life, Karin encountered many obstacles but strived at and was successful in overcoming them. Even developing a debilitating back injury did not hamper her success, until her diagnosis of Stage IV lung cancer in 2017. With new advances in cancer therapies, she was able to beat the odds. She wanted to be there for friends going through tough times, offering a helping hand that included a place to stay, a meal, or anything they needed. She was passionate about her animals, even putting their needs above her own.
Karin is predeceased by her partner, Barbara Olivo; her father, Stephen Long; her mother, Julie DiMauro; her stepfather, Anthony DiMauro; and her beloved dog, Jojo. She is survived by Barbara’s daughter, Jennifer Coppola; her sister, Stephanie Long; her niece, Jessica Long; her stepsisters, Marion Berardi and husband Ronald Berardi, Gina Demasi, and husband Frank Demasi; and her stepbrother, Thomas DiMauro, and wife Joanne DiMauro. She will be missed by all, but none more than her two dogs, Junior (her baby) and Foxy.
God speed, Karin, on this new journey.
