Karen M. Reid's Obituary
Karen M. Reid, age 71 of Lewes, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from complications of Parkinson's disease. She was born on November 25, 1947 in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Wallace and Marion (Laporta) Pederson.
Karen spent her early years in the Washington DC area, Finland, and Sweden. Karen attended the International Institute of Interior Design and was an office manager for many years. She married Mark, the love of her life, in 1970, and during Mark's Army service, lived in Germany and Fort Wayne, Indiana. They raised their family in Frederick, MD and Goshen CT, before moving to Lewes. There, Karen and Mark grew beautiful vegetables on the Reid Family Farm, supplying many area farm-to-table restaurants. Karen sprinkled kindness and cheer wherever she went and faced all situations with a positive attitude. She loved cooking and entertaining and was an avid reader. Karen excelled at crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and Jeopardy. Above all, she cared for her family with the utmost dedication. Karen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
