Karen Kelly Courtemanche's Obituary
Karen Kelly Courtemanche of Ocean View, DE passed peacefully after a battle with Parkinson's Disease on Tuesday, March 20, 2024. She was born on September 23, 1949, in Washington, D.C. to the late Henry E Kelly Jr and Anne Kelly.
Karen lived most of her life married to the love of her life, Michael, for more than 51 years. They had four boys, Christopher (deceased), Patrick (Courtney) of Hanover, MD, Sean (Tai) of Beaver Falls, PA, and David (Christy) of Stevensville, MD. A devoted mother, the boys were her world. Their spouses Karen loved as if they were her own daughters. Her grandchildren, Addison and Jenna, Reilly, Ava, Mary, and Emma expanded her heart in a way she could never have imagined. Karen leaves behind to honor and remember her life her family listed above as well as her brother, Henry Kelly III, brothers-in-law Scott (Mary), and Gary (Judy) Courtemanche, nieces and nephews and her beloved dachshund, Bailey.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Anne Kelly of Silver Spring, MD), and her oldest son, Christopher (Leesburg,VA).
Karen ran a daycare in her home when the boys were young. She had an Associate’s degree from Immaculata University and worked as an office manager in the medical field when the boys were older. Karen enjoyed reading murder mysteries and watching Perry Mason. In her retirement she became a skilled quilter. Karen found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and family. She will be deeply missed by those lucky enough to have known her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 35318 Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held privately.
