Jyotsna Vyas' Obituary
Jyotsna Vyas, age 91 of Lewes, DE passed away at home on Sunday, June 5, 2022. She was born on August 26, 1930, in Bhalej, India, daughter of the late Thomas and Ludia Christian.
On June 7, 1956, Jyotsna married the love of her life, Oliver Wilfred Vyas in Ahmedabad, India. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in education, she built a lifelong career as a school principal, retiring after 30 + dedicated years and immigrating to the United States to be with her family.
Jyotsna dedicated her life to educating the children of India. She was so passionate about education, and she found great joy in tutoring unprivileged children in the community as well.
Jyotsna had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed crocheting and had an avid interest in natural and homeopathic medicine. Jyotsna loved learning new things even in her later years and loved spending time with her family above all else. A wonderful and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Jyotsna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Oliver Wilfred Vyas, and her son, Nayan Vyas. She is survived by : daughter: Kalpana (Nita) Peters and son in law Reginold Peters of Virginia; Vatsala (Vasu) Vyas of Lewes, DE; Tanuja Vyas and son in law Surendra Patel of Fresno, CA ; her son, Mayur Vyas and daughter in law Smita Vyas of Lewes, DE ; daughter in law and wife of her late son, Alpa Vyas of Newark, DE ; her grandchildren: Regina Prasad, Shirley Christian, Mark Peters, Melony Mody, Jessica Vyas, Oliver Vyas and Thomas Vyas; her great grandchildren: Gabriel Prasad, Daniel Prasad, Arianna Prasad, and Victoria Prasad; and many extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, 187 Henlopen Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
