June S. Connor's Obituary
June Stewart Connor, 83, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully May 30 surrounded by her family at home in Lewes, Delaware.
Mrs. Connor was born in Philadelphia on May 29, 1927. She graduated from Girls' High School in 1945 and was president of her senior class. In 1949, she received her bachelor's degree in English from Bucknell University, where she was president of the Mortarboard Society.
Mrs. Connor lived in Wilmington with her family for 34 years, and 2 years in Geneva, Switzerland. She worked as one of the first long-term care ombudsmen for the state of Delaware. After moving to Lewes in 1986, she volunteered for 20 years as a water quality monitor for the Delaware Inland Bays Program. Her husband of 50 years, Edward, died in 2000. Survivors include four children, Michael Connor and his spouse Christine Werme, Patricia Connor and her spouse Jeffrey Gleason, Kevin Connor, and Katherine Linton and her spouse Jeffrey Linton. She is also survived by four beloved granddaughters: Maureen, Janet, Ellie, and Jessie.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 4, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or the Christian Science Church, 801 Bayard Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
