Julia A. Morey's Obituary
Julia “Julie” A. Morey, 69 of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 4, 1941 in New York City to Wylie Hall Arnold and Claire Dowman Hanner Arnold.
Julie grew up in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Salem Academy in 1959 and Sweet Briar College in 1963. She followed a career in the airline industry working for Pan American, South African, British Caledonia, and The Airline of Portugal. After leaving the travel industry she worked for Historic Hudson Valley. Upon retiring she moved to Lewes with her beloved husband, Russell G. Morey, of 34 years. In Delaware she identified an artistic ability and went on to win many awards for her watercolor paintings. She was an active member of the Beebe Medical Center Auxiliary, Meals On Wheels, and St. George’s Episcopal Chapel where she was involved with the ECW Board and Chapter. Julie loved to travel, read and garden but most of all spend time with her loving family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Julie is survived by her brother, Hall Arnold of Charlotte, NC; niece, Courtney Arnold of Greensboro, SC; nephew, Stuart Arnold of Charlotte, NC; five stepsons: Chris and wife Becky of Pawcatuck, CT, Tim and wife Noami of East Marion, NY, Peter and wife Peggy of Easton, MD, Andrew and wife Susan of Melfa, VA, and Matthew of San Francisco, CA; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday November 23, 2010 5:30 PM at St. George’s Episcopal Chapel, 20322 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson, DE 19951. Friends may call beginning at 4:30 PM. Entombment will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery, Harbeson, DE. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
