Julia F. Hanley's Obituary
Julia F. (Bieniek) Hanley, age 87, of Lewes, DE, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Hanley was born April 6, 1920 in Altoona, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Weglowski) Bieniek.
Mrs. Hanley married her late husband and settled in Lewes in 1949. Mrs. Hanley was a Teacher's Aide in Lewes schools for 15 years retiring in 1984. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was also a member of the former Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality and a very active member at St. Jude / St. Edmond's Catholic Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to acknowledge and thank her caregiver, Mary Sturdivant, for her devoted care over the past three years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Hanley (2002); two brothers Stanley and Walter Bieniek and two sisters Steffie Lawruk and Helen Radwanski. She is survived by two daughters, Connie Smith and her husband Charles and Mary Lou Warren and her husband Wayne, all of Lewes; six grandchildren, Kim, Christy, Cody and Kelly Smith and Jacki and Jenn Warren; two sisters, Sis Hollern and Joanne Turcovski, both of Altoona, PA; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Bieniek and Dot Hanley both of Altoona and Ruth Hanley of Jarrettsville, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 21, 2:30 PM at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, DE Route 1 north of Five Points, Lewes; Father Raymond Forrester will be the Celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour before Mass at the church and on Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude The Apostle Building Fund, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958 or to Compassionate Care Hospice of the DelMarva Peninsula, 31038 Country Gardens Blvd., Suite D2, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
