Judith Ann Hipp's Obituary
Judith Ann Hipp, 69, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Columbia, MD, passed away on Friday, June 12, at the home of her son in Odenton, MD. Judy, daughter of the late Clyde and Alberta Taylor, was born on February 3, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA.
Judy worked for APWU Hospital Plan in Silver Spring, MD, for nearly 20 years, before she returned to school to complete her nursing degree. She then worked as a registered nurse in Baltimore, MD, and later in Sussex County, DE. Until her retirement in 1999 she specialized in home health care, a field of nursing she especially enjoyed because she was able to provide more personal care for her patients.
Judy and her husband Dick loved traveling, and experienced many wonderful adventures together. Since their first trip abroad to England nearly 20 years ago, they have traveled throughout Europe and the US, and to Australia, New Zealand, China, Turkey, and most recently Egypt, where they rode on camels and in hot air balloons. Their favorite travel experiences involved meeting, learning from, and even living with people from the many diverse cultures they visited.
Judy moved to Lewes in 1997, and has made many dear friends in the community. She loved sitting on the beach, swimming in the ocean, and walking with her friends.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Dick; daughter Linda and her husband Keith of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter Nancy and her husband Dave of Minneapolis, MN; son Chris and his wife Diana of Odenton, MD; and three beloved granddaughters, Hannah, Leah and Kelsey. She is also survived by brothers Alan Taylor of Norristown, PA, and Jim Taylor of Los Angeles, CA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where the family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. www.parsellfuneralhomes.com
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the United States Fund for UNICEF, 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY, 10038. http://www.unicefusa.org
