Judith M. DiFilippo's Obituary
Judith Elizabeth Martin DiFilippo, 80, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Washington D.C. on April 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Jack C. and Nina Perritt Martin.
Judith graduated from Roosevelt High School in Washington D.C. in 1954, where she was active in music and sports. She married the love of her life Enrico (Henry) Michael DiFilippo on February 26, 1955. Her husband preceded her in death on December 26, 1984
Judith served as Assistant Clerk of Court of the D.C. Tax Court and private secretary to Judge Jo V. Morgan for 10 years. She was proud of her many years of dedication and service to the Girl Scouts of Montgomery County, Maryland.
Judith entered the real estate industry in 1974, and subsequently became an Associate Real Estate Broker with Long and Foster Realtors. She was a Member of the National Association of Realtors and served on their Board for many years. Judith served as President of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors and was awarded Realtor of the Year and Associate of the Year. She was also a member of the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors. Judith also served as President of the Maryland Association of Realtors where she was awarded Realtor of the Year and Associate of the Year. She was a member of the distinguished "Omega Tau Rho Fraternity" of NAR and earned the status of Realtor Emeritus for 40-years of dedication and service to the real estate industry. Judith was known as the "Realtor with a Golden Attitude!".
Judith was a member of the Covenent United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, MD, and for many years served as Vice-President on the Board of Directors, and participated in many of the churches activities. She was known as the "Hostess with the Mostest," or by the children as the "Cookie Lady." Judith was always trying to create and enhance the "ambience" of the Coffee Hour on Sunday mornings, as well as the many other special events at her church. She always missed her church family and would visit as often as possible.
Judith moved to Rehoboth Beach, DE in 2012 and enjoyed living in the Aspen Meadows Community where she served as Vice-President and Chair of the Ladies Luncheon Committee and Chair of the Nominating and Election Committee. She enjoyed her many friends and activities at Aspen Meadows. Judith was also a very active member of the Cape Henlopen Senior Center in Rehoboth Beach, serving on the Board of Directors and Chair of the Beautification and Landscaping Committees. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.
Judith is the beloved mother of Karen Carter, Kevin DiFilippo, Charles DiFilippo, and Elizabeth Feys. Mother-in-law to Solomon Oxman, Maryjo DiFilippo and George Feys. Grandmother to Elaine Carter, Jennifer Carter, Nicholas Feys, Thomas Feys, David DiFilippo, Anthony DiFilippo, and Great-Grandmother to Chayse DiFilippo. Also survived by brothers, Jack Martin, Charles Martin; and sisters: Nina Martin, Elaine Owens, and Evelyn Marie Martin. She will always be remembered as a loving and wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Judith wanted to give "My love, and hugs and kisses to all," and to "Always tell the people who mean the most to you that you love them and give the a Big Hug as often as possible!".
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Cape Henlopen Senior Center, 11 Christian St., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
