Joyce B. Willon's Obituary
Joyce B. Willon, age 78, of Seaford, DE, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Seaford Center-Genesis Eldercare in Seaford, DE. She was born on June 18, 1938 in Chincoteague, VA., daughter of the late Elmer Bowden and Geneva (Jester) Bowden.
Mrs. Willon dedicated her life to her family and took great pride in raising her children. In addition to keeping her home, she also worked at various places around Bridgeville including: Woodbridge High school, the US Postal Service, and the local sewing factory. She was a past member of the Red Hats Society and the Bridgeville Church of God. Mrs. Willon loved music and was an accomplished piano player. She was a member of the Woodbridge Art League and a very talented artist. You can see her many murals she painted around town at places like the Bridgeville Library and the side of the Dollar General. She also enjoyed spending summers with her family in Tom's Cove, VA. Her greatest joy however, was time spent with her cherished grandchildren who were the apples of her eyes. Mrs. Willon was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Willon was preceded in death by her four brothers: David, Jimmy, Tommy, and John Douglas Bowden. She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Rodney L. Willon, Jr.; her three sons: Thomas Oliver Jefferson, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Bridgeville, Elmer Sidney Jefferson and his wife Tena Mills of Seaford, and Timothy Paul Jefferson and his wife Teresa Clayville of Bridgeville; her step-daughter, Debra Elliot of Paulsboro, NJ; her ten grandchildren: Erin, Aimee, Thomas, Kristen, Andrea, Allyson, Katlin, Timothy, Brittany and Hannah; her seven great grandchildren: Callie, Ava, Matty, Gianna, Sophia, George Thomas, and Gavin Thomas; her brother, Donnie Bowden and his wife Margie of Charleston, SC; and her two sisters: Gerrie Kennedy of Greenwood and Jane Jefferson and her husband Thomas Oliver Jefferson, Sr. of Bridgeville.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street Bridgeville, DE.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE. Interment will follow at Bridgeville Cemetery.
