Joyce Elaine Walter's Obituary
Joyce Elaine Walter, age 78, formerly of York, PA presently of Millsboro, DE passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 8 PM, She passed away at Cadia Rehabilitation Renaissance in Millsboro, DE after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Joyce was born Wednesday, April 29, 1936 in York, PA, to Lind and Virginia Lear (Smith) Walter.
Joyce attended William Penn High School in York, PA but did not receive her GED until the age of 62. This was one of the proudest moments in her life. In her younger years, she worked as a Dental Receptionist for several years. The greatest pleasure in her career was working for the Girl Scout Council, before the onset of her illness. She loved Jazz and the jitterbug, always receiving compliments on her dancing talents. Those who knew her will remember the love she had for her parrot, "Ruffles" who was her joy for 22 years.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn Reidel and her husband Orvin of Lewes, DE; two grandchildren, Michelle Decker and her Fiancé Dan Gross of York, PA; Clinton A. Decker of York, PA; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Alex Pflaum of York, PA; a brother, Lind S. Walter and his wife Margaret of York, PA and a sister, Virginia Szitas of York, PA.
The family would like to thank Pat Lehr of East Berlin, PA for her truly devoted lifelong friendship. We will always remember and love her dearly.
