Wow. I was a bit shaken when I read of Joe's passing in the "Eye Street Headlines" I received today from the Gonzaga Communications Department. I last saw Joe at the party for him and Judy to celebrate their 50th. He was the "big guy down the street" in Crestwood when I was growing up. I remember working on cars with him and his friends, sledding on Matthewson Drive hill in the winter, and of course his collection of 45's that was unbelievable. I think one of the boys has that now and it was unrivaled by anyone I know. I have thought of him and the family often in the last few years and I know I will continue to do so. He was a good friend and will be missed.

My brother was so kind to me throughout my life. I have wonderful memories of the coloring book and crayons he gave me when I had measles, the Wednesday doll, and his sweaters he let me wear. When I was in high school, he let me drive his car to school. We had great times as children and adults. I will miss him dearly. His life was dedicated to his family. His kind and generous spirit is abundantly evident in the beautiful children and grandchildren he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.

When I was young and times were hard, you were there for me with a joke and a beer.
The Vermont cabin, maple syrup, cheese, tumbled stones, trains, and winter sledding in Crestwood.
A siblings bond can not be broken even by age and distance - through it all, you were always my brother and I your baby sister.

Dad -

Thanks for the all the life lessons and laughs; the trips to the beach; and the hikes in Vermont. I love you and will miss you but I know you'll never be gone because every time I have a question, I'll ask... "what would dad do?" and I know you'll be right there.
