Joseph Podlaseck's Obituary

Joseph A. Podlaseck, age 80, died on January 7, 2020 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE with his loved ones by his side. Born in Hazleton, PA on January 28, 1939, Joseph was the son of the late Stanley and Veronica (Berish) Podlaseck.
Joe received various technical, mechanical, and related trade certifications and degrees over the years. Joe enjoyed working at the Lewes Yacht Club for 8 years where he managed various projects and expansion within the yacht club. Joe had also assumed the position of Project Manager with Frank Rubino & Associates out of Wilmington, DE, Mid-Atlantic Shore Properties, and had owned his own construction company for a number of years.
Joe’s hobbies included building wood toys for children in his home shop, following his beloved New England Patriots and attending Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Lewes, DE.
The family would like to especially thank the nurses and support staff on the ICU Wing at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes for their kindness and support.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his older brother Stanley Podlaseck in 2017. Joe is survived by wife Phyllis of 60 years; son David Podlaseck and his wife Janet of Bridgeville; daughter Susan Marvel and spouse Andrew Glover of Wilmington; grandchildren: Joel Podlaseck and wife Beth of Seaford, Evan Podlaseck of Greenwood, and Emily Marvel of Wilmington; great grandchildren Oliver, Milo and Crosby; and brother James Podlaseck of Seven Valleys, PA.
A celebration of life will be held by his family on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at St. Jude the Apostle Church located at 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM at the church with a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do something kind and special for another in Joe’s name.
