Joseph Nicholas Manente's Obituary
Joseph (“Joe”) Nicholas Manente, age 68, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away tragically in a car accident on October 27, 2025.
Joe was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on August 15, 1957. He graduated from Ridley Senior High School in 1976 and resided in Delaware County, Pennsylvania before relocating to Lewes. Joe was predeceased by his beloved husband, Michael Mireider, who passed away eight months earlier, as well as by his parents, Joan and Anthony (“Tony/The Bear”).
For nearly thirty years, Joe worked in banking, specializing in retail lockbox administration and, later, armored services. After moving to Delaware, he worked as a bailiff at the Sussex County Courthouse until retiring. His hobbies included online bargain hunting, furniture refinishing, gardening, hosting family gatherings, spending time with friends at the beach, and enjoying fine food and wine.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Jill) Mireider and Jessica (Adam) Roth; grandchildren Alexis-Diane, Jeffrey Jr., Wyatt, Charlotte, and Elliott; sister Lia (Alex) Krowzow; nephew Alex (Amaris) Krowzow; niece Laura (Jon) Rogers; and many other nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Joe is remembered for his notable sense of humor, generosity, kindness, and warm smile. Alongside his husband Michael, he built a lasting partnership spanning over forty years. Over those four decades, they raised children, welcomed visits from their children and grandchildren, hosted lavish gatherings with family and friends, traveled internationally, acquired unique antiques, and thoughtfully decorated homes in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Their commitment to each other, as well as to their families and friends, was evident throughout their lives. Joe touched many as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE 19958, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM.
