Joseph W. Kling's Obituary
Joseph William Kling, Jr., age 85, of Lewes, DE, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born October 16, 1920 in Stamford, CT son of the late Joseph William Kling Sr. and Catherine Victoria (Walls) Kling.
Mr. Kling was a former police officer in Harrington, DE and Federalsburg, MD. He also drove for Service Trucking in Federalsburg and for King Cole in Milton, DE. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WW II and the Korean War. He was devoted to his family; he was a wonderful and kind man. He was a sports enthusiast, an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed the challange of crossword puzzles and he loved to travel.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife of 38 years, Catherine W. Kling and by his second wife of two years, Maxine Crouch Kling; his brother Wesley L. Kling; and his sister Carol E. Golden. He is survived by his wife of ten years Buena M. (Newcomb) Kling; three daughters, Sara Ann Hubbard and husband Ralph of Hurlock, MD, Gladys Moran and her husband John of Lincoln, DE, and Barbara "Peaches" McGee and her husband William of Milford, DE; one son, Joseph William Kling III of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, William Barry Hubbard, Samantha Lynn Quailes, Shaun Allen Moran, Damien Lee Moran, Steven David Moran, Brittany Shay Moran and Michael William McGee; four great-grandchildren, Brittney C. Hubbard, Audrey L. Hubbard, Riley Alexis Quailes and Autumn Kay McGee; and his sister Genevieve L. Irwin of Detroit, MI.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25, 2 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service; Pastor Robert W. Clagg of the Church of God, Seaford, DE will be officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163.
