Joseph A. Gormley's Obituary
Joseph A. Gormley, Jr., age 87, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away Friday, September 7, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born January 24, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Joseph A. Gormley, Sr. and Aletha (Campbell) Gormley.
Mr. Gormley was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church, the VFW in Philadelphia, and he was the oldest member and a long standing member of 60 years of the American Legion in Philadelphia. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Mary Gormley (1992). He is survived by two daughters, Gerry Letizia and Suzanne Bradley and one son, Joseph A. Gormley III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 12, 11 AM, at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles & Laurel Streets, Rehoboth Beach, DE where the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be on Thursday, September 13, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Girls & Boys Town, P.O. Box 6000-Memorials, Boystown, NE 68010.
