Josef Lachmann's Obituary
Josef Lachmann of Lewes, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Christiana Hospital, Wilmington, DE. He was born March 16, 1935 in Ostrzeszow, Poland, son of the late Johann and Sophie (Kamp) Lachmann.
He served our country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Ft. Bragg, in the 97th Arcom Unit in Lewes, DE and he continued his military career in the Delaware Army National Guard, stationed with the Dagsboro, DE Unit #262 and he also served with the 310 Army Reserve in Seaford, DE. He worked for the State of Delaware as a Bridgetender and then later as a Groundskeeper at St. Peter's Church in Lewes for 30 years or more. He truly loved the beach, to read and to watch the History and Discovery Channels, but most of all he loved being with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Hella (Angler) Lachmann, of Lewes; three sons: Eric Lachmann of Lewes, Josef Lachmann, Jr. of Lewes and Michael Lachmann and wife Thoy of Germany; two daughters: Janet Deering and husband Timothy of Millsboro, DE and Tanya Farlow and husband Leeroy of Milton, DE; grandson, John Deering and wife Tiffany of Woodbridge, VA; two granddaughters: Ashley Deering of Millsboro, DE and Abigail Farlow of Milton, DE; one brother, George Lachmann and wife Geisela of Germany; one sister-in-law, Angela Lachmann of Angola, DE; many nieces and nephews and their families; and two pets: dog, Sheeba and bird, Baby.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
