Jose Augustian Perez Jr.'s Obituary
Jose “Joey” Augustian Perez, Jr., 44, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died on October 17, 2024, at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 30, 1979, son of the late Jose Augustian Perez and Eileen M. (Volpe) Perez of Brooklyn, NY.
Joey was known by those who loved him as a source of constant joy and laughter. He was fond of loud music, classic horror movies, and video games, in particular all things relating to the Super Mario series. A Brooklynite through and through, he loved to cheer on the city’s teams in many sports, especially his beloved New York Yankees. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends, to whom he was endlessly dedicated. He will be forever remembered for his welcoming character, his lively sense of humor, and his boisterous personality that could bring happiness (and maybe a little good-natured trouble) to any situation.
In addition to his mother Eileen, Joey is also survived by his brother Dom Perez, with whom he shared a bond not unlike Mario and Luigi, the brothers who starred in his favorite video games. He will also be remembered by the Perez family: Uncle Fernando, Aunt Pat, cousin Elisa & husband Nick, and cousin Freddy & wife Meaghan; the Volpe family: uncle Dominick & Theresa, cousin Dominick & wife Gabrielle, cousin Antony & fiancée Marena, Cousin Christopher, and cousin Seana Marie, as well as countless other friends and family. He was preceded in death by Bop, Papi, Nanny, Mema, and Uncle Joe.
A celebration of Joey’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 3:00PM at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium Atkins~Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958 with a visitation from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. A small gathering will follow the service at Eileen’s home, 19848 Sea Air Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE, 19971.
