John J. Turner's Obituary
John J. Turner III, born June 18, 1961, in Wilmington, DE, and a longtime resident of Delaware, died peacefully at home in Lewes, DE, on October 6, 2025, after a battle with cancer.
John worked for over 35 years in nuclear power, focusing on management, instrumentation, and control work, beginning his career at Exelon Corporation in 1987. In 2019, he moved to Abu Dhabi to join Nawah Energy as an Instrumentation Maintenance Manager, where he helped develop two of the first three nuclear reactors that advanced sustainable energy in the UAE.
Before beginning his esteemed career in nuclear power, John gained valuable experience during his ten years with Albatross Marine.
John loved to travel and visited many wonderful places with his wife. In his free time, he enjoyed boating and fishing—some of his happiest moments shared with his father, family, and friends. He was also a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, especially of the Phillies and Eagles, and loved cheering on his teams.
John is survived by his loving wife, Olivia; his son, John J. IV; and his stepchildren, Andrew, Jaeger, and Morgan. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia J. Turner and James R. Turner. John's memory is cherished by his and his wife’s family—Olivia Gray, Regina and David Ashcraft, and John Gray Jr.—as well as by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, John J. Jr. and Regina A. Turner; his niece, Kelly L. Myers; nephews, Richard J. and John S. Beggs; and his father-in-law, John Gray.
John will be remembered with deep love for his dedication to his work, family, and friends. His spirit, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those around him leave an enduring legacy that will inspire all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m.
