John "Jack" R. Quinn's Obituary
John R. "Jack" Quinn, age 81, of Ocean View, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Delaware Hospice, Milford, DE. He was born on April 10, 1933 in Wilmington, DE, son of the late Carl G. and Harriet (Esselborn) Quinn.
Mr. Quinn was a 1951 graduate of H. C. Conrad High School and served his country proudly with the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed a 33 year career as a Laboratory Technician with ICI Americas, Inc... After retiring, Jack was able to enjoy a round of golf whenever the opportunity arose. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending time on his boat, casting his rod in the Indian River Bay. Mr. Quinn also loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, NV and Myrtle Beach, SC. He resided in Myrtle Beach for 6 years prior to returning to Delaware.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by his step-mother, Marjorie McElwee Quinn, a brother, Robert Quinn and two sisters: Patricia Anderson and Joan Profit. He is survived by his best friend, Joan Stewart of Ocean View, DE, one brother, Jerry Quinn and wife Mary Ellen of Ft. Myers, FL, three sons: John D. Quinn of Lewes, DE, Joseph Quinn of Frankford, DE and Scott Quinn and wife Margaret of Bear, DE, two daughters: Katherine Quinn of Dover, DE and Barbara Behl and husband Thomas of Claymont, DE, six grandchildren: David, Jamie, Leah, Kelly, Chrissy, Sandy and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 11:30 AM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE 19947 where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment with Military honors will be at 1:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
