John A. Roslan, Sr.'s Obituary
John A. Roslan, Sr., of Lewes, Delaware and Key Colony Beach, Florida, passed away on June 25, 2016 at the age of 79. John was born on April 8, 1937 in Wilmington, Delaware, son of the late John and Helen (Mazewski) Roslan.
He attended Salesianum High School and graduated from Brown Vocational High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The University of Delaware, and went on to enjoy a career at ICI America as an Analytical Chemist.
John was a very passionate man, loved by everyone he met through his involvement in numerous clubs and activities. He was a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, had served in the Army National Guard, and had participated as a Lector/Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude the Apostle Church (Lewes) and San Pablo Catholic Church (Key Colony Beach). He belonged to a myriad of clubs including: Right to Life, Corvette Club, Whist Club, American Legion, and Marathon Yacht Club. John was a dedicated Blue Hen fan and Diamond Club Member, attending every home University of Delaware football game and tailgate with his family. John had such a zest for life: he was an avid walker, former marathon runner, founder of The Road Runners club at ICI, and early member of Punkin Chunkin. John was known as a crab “connoisseur”, and he enjoyed fishing with his family on his boat, The North Star. He loved spending the winter months in Key Colony Beach with his wife as well as jet-setting all over the world, with special trips to Alaska, Italy, Poland, Germany, and South America. John was fond of his garden, particularly of his peppers, which he loved bringing to his Friday “hot lunches” where he was the grill-master. John will forever be known for his outgoing personality, strong Catholic faith, and big heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joanne D. (Gutowski ); their three loving children, Michael (Susan) of Kennett Square, PA, Kimberly (Mark) Courtney of Middletown, DE, and John Jr. (Karen) of North East, MD; sisters Barbara McCormick and Sandra Joseph; and adoring grandchildren, Devon Marie and Daniel Courtney and Dylan, Maurissa, Seth, and Caleb Roslan. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him
