John Thomas Romine's Obituary
John Thomas Romine, age 84, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. Mr. Romine was born December 21, 1925 in Boston, MA, son of the late Herman John Holtzhausen and Hazel Wyla (McKinley) Romine.
Mr. Romine had worked for many years at the National Institutes of Health as a Medical Photographer. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewes, DE, a member of the American Legion Post, Rehoboth Beach, Knights of Columbus, and the Irish Society of Delaware. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Kiefer) Romine; two daughters: Frances Kelly of Hope Mills, NC and Janis Stone, of Manassas, VA; grandchildren: Lori Irwin of San Diego, CA, Bob Kelly of Henderson, NV, Kathi Lutton of Menlo Park, CA, Kristi Nemes, of Pacifica ,CA; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Muriel Carr of New Bedford, MA; two half sisters Sally Isler of Boalsburg, PA and Janice Strucks of Rocky Hill, CT; and a half brother Frank von Holtzhausen of Gilford, CT.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, Delware Route One north of Five Points, Lewes, DE. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice,100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
