John Michael Roca's Obituary
John Michael Roca, age 18, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., died suddenly Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Christiana Medical Center in Christiana, DE .
He was the son of Mariano Roca and Margaret Long Roca.
John was a freshman currently attending the University of Delaware majoring in Natural Resource Management and a minor in Art. He was working towards his goal of a Masters in Shore Line Conservation. He was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School where he had carried a 3.97 grade point average. In his early years he was involved with the Boy Scouts program attaining the position of Star Scout. Throughout high school he was very involved with the FFA where he had held numerous officer positions. He served as National Honor Society President his senior year, lettered in swimming and had been a life guard at the North Shores Beach. He would light up a room with his smile everytime he entered. One of John's FFA advisors stated, " He was a light in my chapter and a memory that I will carry forever. It was his love and dedication and his smile that made him so wondeful to have."
A memorial Golf Outing at the Rehoboth Beach County Club is planned for July 23, 2008 from which the proceeds will be used to support the charity listed below.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother Billy Roca of Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Paternal Grandparents-Vito & Mary Roca of Deltona, Florida and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents-Bernard & Elaine Long.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles & Laurel Streets, Rehoboth Beach, DE at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2007 , with Father Raymond Forrester officiating. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery , Angola, Delaware. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-9 PM at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE
