John M. Norton's Obituary
John M. Norton, Jr., age 62, of Milton, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. He was born January 14, 1947 in Orange, NJ, son of the late John M. Norton, Sr and Irma J. (Irvin) Norton.
Mr. Norton served his country during the Vietnam era with the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and went on to enjoy a long career in the field of insurance retiring in 2007 as an Administrative Executive for Aetna in Middletown, CT. Mr. Norton was very active with the Nichols United Methodist Church in Trumbull, CT and he was a member of Kiwanis International with active service in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware. His favorite teams were the Yankees and UCONN women's basketball. He also thoroughly enjoyed flying, especially his Cessnas. He and his wife relocated to Milton in 2007 to enjoy the Delaware beaches and all that the area offers. However, when all was said and done, John was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, family was always first and foremost.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Karen C. (Julius) Norton of Milton; a daughter Kimberly Lynn Charest and her husband Todd of Springfield, MA; a son Christopher James Norton of Windsor Locks, CT; three grandchildren: Kyle, Erin and Donovan; and two sisters: Cathy Ann Bartek and her husband Edward and Patricia Jayne Reiner and her husband Michael, all of Middlesex, NJ.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
