John Long Morris' Obituary
John Long Morris, age 71, lifelong resident of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. DE. Mr. Morris was born May 18, 1939 in Lewes, son of the late Albert Tripp Morris and Ellen (Van Pelt) Morris.
Mr. Morris was a Delaware River Pilot for 41 years. He was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church where he had many friends; he loved being part of the parish. His love for God was demonstrated throughout his life starting early on at All Saints' Church where he served as an alter boy; in his later years, he served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister both at All Saints' and at the Bruton Parish in Williamsburg, VA. He loved studying history, especially the civil war. He enjoyed walking his dogs around his beloved Rehoboth Beach. He was devoted to his loving wife Janet, to their children and grandchildren; his family was his world.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janet (Werni) Morris; three sons: John Morris III and his girlfriend Peggy, Patrick Morris, and Thomas Uffner; two daughters: Nicole Hepner and her husband Dave and Stasia Gabrielle; his step-mother Louzetta Morris; and three grandchildren: Katie Nicole Hepner, John Hepner and Cai Hepner.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE. The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 18, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Interment will be at All Saints' Cemetery, 20274 Beaver Dam Road (Route 23), near Angola, DE.
