John Maple's Obituary
John Fay Maple, age 75, of Magnolia, DE died Saturday, August 26, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Maple was born in Watervaliet, NY, son of the late Fay and Yvonne (Couture) Maple. He was a retired Navy and Civil Service employee working in Food Service and Supply Management. He served in the Navy during the Korean War & the Vietnam Conflict. He moved to the Magnolia area about 25 years ago from Cape Charles, VA. Mr. Maple was a member of the American Legion Post # 3 in Milford, DE & the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve. He served 20 years in Civil Service. He developed and owned a landscaping service where he worked until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Faye M. Maple; 2 sons: Christopher J. Maple and wife Colette, New Bern, NC; David F. Maple & wife Shelby, Ocala, FL; a daughter: Elisa A. Maple, Pueblo, CO; a stepson: John M. West, Rehoboth Beach, DE; 2 stepdaughters: Lisa M. Davidson, Milton, DE and Kathleen L. Shifflette of Dallas, GA; Two Sisters, Loretta Tarasewich of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Elsie Schneider of Brunswick, N.Y; One Brother, Joey Maple of Mechanicsville, N.Y; 6 grandchildren: Shawn Moore, Kristin B. Shifflette, Margaret E. Maple, Bryn Maple, Connor Maple, & Kate Maple; and one great grandson: Shawn P. Moore II.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 3 sisters: Lorraine Dugan, Mary Jordan, and Patricia Blair.
Funeral services will be held at Midway Assembly of God Church, Highway One, Lewes, DE at 10:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2006 with Pastor Gary Ross officiating. Interment will be at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Savannah Road, Lewes, DE.
