John Carlton Larsen's Obituary
John Carlton Larsen, age 93, of Milton, DE passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, DE. He was born in Marinette, WI, on June 26, 1920, son of the late John P. and Anna Emelia (Andersen) Larsen.
Mr. Larsen served his country proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard manning a lighthouse in the waters off of Maine. After his service in the Coast Guard, he took up the trade of carpentry and became a home builder for many years. Mr. Larsen continued his career as a Manager of Facilities and Maintenance at Baltimore County Public Schools in Baltimore, Maryland. He was also an active member of the Lions Club International, the American Legion and the New Life Thrift Shop. Mr. Larsen will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a dear friend by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Larsen was preceded in death by his loving wife whom he wed on January 25, 1946, Mary Susan (Collins) Larsen and his two siblings, Pearl Kerr and Tom Larsen. He is survived by two sons: James E. Larsen and his wife Margaret of Cold Spring, DE and Doug C. Larsen and his wife Louise of Baltimore, MD; a daughter, Judy Hillman and her late husband Timothy of Timonium, MD; five grandchildren: Stacy Larsen Brewer, Collen Kelbaugh, Daniel S. Wilson, Douglas C. Wilson and Samuel C. Hillman; nine great-grandchildren that he adored dearly; and his siblings, Elmer Larsen, and Jean Davis.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE, a reception will follow services in the church. Interment will be private.
