John George Kleitz, Jr.'s Obituary
John G. Kleitz, Jr. passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018 in McDonough, Georgia. John was born in Wilmington, Delaware on March 19, 1954. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1972. In 1973, he married his soul mate Sharyn. John made his living and career in the Hotel/ Hospitality Management Industry for over 40 years in Delaware, Ohio and Maryland. After several moves the family settled in Lewes, Delaware in 1985. John worked and served the communities of Lewes and Rehoboth Beach for over 30 years. He sat on the Rehoboth Chamber of Commerce and worked hand in hand with the Rehoboth YMCA for many years. John, also known to many as “Poppop” was a diehard fan of the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles and World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies. He had a love for speed and enjoyed driving his mustangs. John was a devoted husband, wonderful father and an extraordinary grandfather. John was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John G. Kleitz, Sr. and Lois A. Kleitz (Duggan). His devoted wife of 32 years, Sharyn L. Kleitz (Gibbons). John is survived by his daughter, Kathryn K. Smith of McDonough GA. Grandson John J. Kleitz of McDonough, GA. His Aunt, Barbara Yeatman of Kenneth Square, PA. Two brothers, William Kleitz & wife Diane, David Kleitz & wife Donna of Wilmington De. Mother in law Kathryn Seibert of Elkton MD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing will be held at the Parsell Funeral Home, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM followed by a graveside service, performed by his cousin, Steve Yeatman, at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes De.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Dr., McDonough GA. 30253.
