John D. King's Obituary
John D. King, age 72, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Seaford Center in Seaford, DE. He was born January 26, 1936 in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Leo King and Catherine (Meskell) King of Colchester, CT.
Mr. King enjoyed a long career as a food broker selling to various institutional organizations. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Council 24, Waterbury, CT. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks in Seaford and many other lodges. Mr. King was an avid golfer and the founder of the Norwalk British Dart League. He was also an excellent down-hill skier and a member of the National Ski Patrol. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his daughter Catherine King and his son David King. He is survived by his wife Daryl P. (Kothe) King; a daughter Alison King Rascher of Montgomery Village, MD; two sons, Rev. Mr. Mark King of Groton, CT and John David King of Phoenix, AZ; two step-daughters, Sherra Piscitelli of West Haven, CT and Stacey Beauchamp of Pocomoke City, MD; a step-son Todd Van Ness of Bridgeport, CT; 18 grandchildren; and a sister Nancy K. Rosa of Watertown, CT.
A Catholic Blessing Service will be held Friday, March 28, 3:00 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE where the family will receive friends starting at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. Rev. Mr. Mark King, son of Mr. King, will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, DE 19963.
