Jack was part of the foundation of my life. We grew up together from elementary school to high school. Boy Scouts to parties at his house. His strong values followed him throughout his life. The Love of his family is a testament to his life. I will truly miss him

Jack and Denise, with Katie and Janet, lived just up the street from us on Sleepy Hollow Road when we moved to Annandale from Ottawa in 1979 and were among the first to welcome us and show us how truly hospitable Americans can be. Although Jack was an accomplished bridge player, he was also a patient teacher and we remember fondly evenings spent at their house learning to play bridge and eating popcorn from Jack's beloved popcorn maker. Many years later, Jack and Denise played host to us, this time in Lewes, where we again played bridge and, yes, ate popcorn. Unfortunately, when they called on us in Ottawa from the Emery cottage in Ontario, there wasn't time for either bridge or popcorn but we were able to reminisce about the wonderful times we had spent together when we were (much) younger.

Jack was a lover of life! He was passionate about Bridge, fishing, singing, travel, family and friends. Jack always made a room light up!

The Emerys lived across the street from us in Annandale for many (35+??) years. I remember when Janet came home from the hospital and took a picture of her under the cherry tree. Jack and I shared untold home projects and stories, shared our tools and our children grew up together. The Emerys were the dearest of friends and we missed them went they went to Lewes to,undertake an historic restoration of what I considered to be an heroic task: and they succeeded beyond expectation. Denise, Katie and Janet are in the Collettes prayers and thoughts and we share your grief together. We love you all, Royal Collette and family.
PS: Always thought Jack's mustache was cool and made him look like a folk singer!
