John J. "Jack" Cabry's Obituary
John J. “Jack” Cabry of Rehoboth Beach died on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at home with his wife of 39 years, Joanne, by his side. He was born on August 30, 1935 in Philadelphia, son of the late John J. and Anna (Coll) Cabry.
Jack attended East Stroudsburg State University in Pennsylvania on the GI bill and earned a Master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He spent 40 years as a teacher, principal and headmaster in schools in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland. He loved working with young people and spent the last 17 years of his career teaching Language Arts at Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland.
Jack loved to travel and he especially enjoyed the many trips he and Joanne took to Ireland and the Finger Lakes of New York. Jack also enjoyed classical music and jazz, the theater, playing tennis and squash, and rooting for the Washington Nationals.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by three daughters, Julia Cabry, Wendy Rayner and Brigid Nelson; five grandchildren; brother Michael (Joan) Cabry; sisters Nancy (Herb) Shellender and Trish (Gene) Stabinski; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Arlene Kilcoyne; sister-in-law, Mary Fitzsimmons; and dozens of nephews, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on his birthday, Sunday August 30, 2015. Details will be sent to family and friends.
