John Francis Hyde lll's Obituary
John Francis Hyde III of Rehoboth Beach
John “Jack” Francis Hyde III peacefully passed away October 23, 2024, after a long battle with cancer with his wife and daughter at his side. Jack was born in Wilmington, Delaware on April 27, 1956, the son of the late John F. Hyde and Carol Casey Hyde. He was a graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Archmere Academy, and The University of Delaware. Jack was an IT contractor for the State of Delaware, but most knew him from his years tending bar at the Bottle & Cork, Rusty Rudder, Lighthouse, and Irish Eyes.
Jack was a quiet and thoughtful man with a laser-sharp wit and great sense of humor. A gracious host, Jack enjoyed grilling for others and sharing produce from his abundant gardens. He was a life-long Phillies & Eagles fan and spent many Sundays watching with a Casapulla’s sub or cheesesteak.
Jack was ever present at his daughter’s swim meets and lacrosse games. He loved the beaches of Delaware, enjoyed surf-fishing and sitting by the ocean with his family and many friends. Above all else, Jack loved and adored his wife and daughter.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Denise DeAngelis Hyde, his daughter Sarah Lauren Hyde (Spencer Lichtenberg), his sisters M. Virginia Hyde, Carolyn A. Hyde, his brother James C. Hyde (Whitney), mother-in law Judith DeAngelis, sister-in-law Lauren DeAngelis (Bob Clarke), and brother-in-law Christopher DeAngelis (Diana).
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by niece Carolyn Casey Hyde.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11am on the beach, bayside, on Van Dyke Street in Dewey Beach. Additional parking will be available in the Rusty Rudder parking lot. Some chairs will be provided but please feel free to bring a beach chair.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Food Bank of Delaware, https://www.fbd.org/get-involved/donate-food-2/, or Delaware Hospice, https://delawarehospice.org/ .
