John Larkin Grose's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John L. Grose, on May 17, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and a beautiful outlook on life that will forever be etched into the hearts of his family and friends. John will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
John was born on January 6, 1957, at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina. He was from a military family and called many places home. Of them all, Lewes, Delaware was definitely his favorite.
John’s pleasures in life were really simple. He loved spending time with his family and friends, listening to music (Bob Dylan & Neil Young), observing the beauty of nature, and a good cheesesteak! John also enjoyed going to the Cheer Center. He loved driving around Lewes with his daughter Julie, jamming to old rock, and hitting the Dairy Queen. John was a resident of Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, DE and was well loved by the staff. They were like family to him.
The loss of John L. Grose leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of his family and friends. However, the memories he created will serve as a reminder of the beautiful and courageous life he lived. He had a beautiful soul.
John was preceded in death by his loving parents, James B. Grose and Marilyn B. Grose. He is survived by his loving daughter, Julia M. Mister (Billy); his son, John L. Grose, Jr. (Jenny); his grandchildren: Tyler Shelton, Shelby Shelton, Ky’lynn Grose, Jacob Grose, Aubrey Grose and Caleb Grose; his brothers: James B. Grose, Jr. (Sharon) and Lawrence Grose (Tracy); his sister, Dianna L. Grose (Mike); his niece, Amanda Davidson; his nephew, Larney Grose; and all his friends and staff at Harbor Healthcare.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
