John Ford Ray's Obituary
John Ford Ray , age 79, of Bridgeville, DE, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home. He was born in Bridgeville, DE on June 27, 1934, son of the late William Martin Ray and Catherine (Towers) Ray.
Mr. Ray was raised on a farm and continued farming in the Bridgeville area his entire life. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines. The Kiwanis Club of Bridgeville enjoyed his presence as a member and as a past president. During his early years he enjoyed bird hunting of all types, however, deer hunting was his real passion.
He is survived by his wife Violet May Dennis Ray; one son, Thomas Martin Ray and his wife Donna of Bridgeville; two daughters, Kim Ford Ray of Bridgeville, DE and Susan May Ray of Trappe, MD; four grandsons, John Robert Ray and wife Lauren of Seaford, DE, Derek Ryan Nennstiehl (USAF) El Paso, TX, Paul Wade Williamson and wife Cathy of Salisbury, MD, Mark Owen Williamson of Trappe, MD; two granddaughters, Johanna Lindsay Ray of Laurel, DE, Katherine Ray Lamberton and husband Andrew of Burlington, NC; three great granddaughters, Starla Celeste Williamson of Salisbury, MD and Madison Hannah Williamson of Trappe, MD and Shelby Kherington Ray of Seaford, DE; his sister Laura Anne Nennstiehl and husband Bill and his brother Richard Lewis Ray and wife Sally, all of Bridgeville, DE.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at 2:00 PM, at the Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE. Burial will be private.
