John "Jack" F. Maher's Obituary
John "Jack" F. Maher, age 67, of Milton, DE, formerly of New Castle DE, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006, at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Maher was born January 26, 1939 in Wilmington, DE son of late John C. and Carolyn (Beckloff) Maher.
Mr. Maher was a Delaware State Trooper for 13 years retiring in 1981. He then worked for the Delaware State Department of Motor Vehicles retiring in 2000. Mr. Maher enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Phyllis B. (Mann) Maher; two sons, John M. Maher and his wife Karen of Newark, DE and Brian D. Maher of Milton; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Devin Maher; his sister, Patricia A. Maher of New Castle, DE; and his brother, James Maher of Boothwyn, PA.
A graveside service with State Police Honor Guard will be held Wednesday, March 15, 11 AM, Epworth Methodist Cemetery, 32 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE with Father Oscar Frundt officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 14, 7-9 PM at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Lung Transplant Program, 3400 Spruce Street, Rhoads Pavilion, Philadelphia, PA 19104, Attn: Nancy P. Blumenthal.
