John P. Casamento's Obituary
John P. Casamento, age 84, of Rehoboth Beach,DE, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. He was born in Clearfield,PA, on July 21, 1927, son of the late Tindaro and Maria (Fama) Casamento.
Mr. Casamento worked for Merril Lynch for 25 years retiring in 1988; he simultaneously worked as a meat cutter for Blackie's House of Beef. Mr. Casamento proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and bowling. Also, he always enjoyed a lively discussion on current events and politics. He was a devout Catholic who was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church. He was devoted to his family and loved having his children and grandchildren around him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Casamento was preceded in death by his son, Michael Casamento in 1961. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa L (DeLullo) Casamento; daughter Sandra Casamento Romeo and husband Richard of Crofton, MD and their children: Gina Romeo Venturella and husband Paul of Stevensville, MD, Deanna Romeo and Joshua Hamilton, and Andrea Romeo, all of Crofton; daughter Mary Casamento and husband Albert Poelvoorde of Orlando, FL and their children: Michael Buendia and wife Darcy of Seattle, WA and Courtney Smith of Baltimore, MD; daughter Ann Casamento of Odenton, MD and her son John Casamento of Odenton; and a sister Millie Colose of Pittsburgh, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church,152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE where friends may gather beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
Please omit flowers. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, St. Jude The Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958.
